What's the deal with SX???

OP, yeah, I know I was sarcastic, but one point I wish to make is that the quote of mine you quoted is my signature. It shows up on every post I make in every thread until I change it. It is not pertinent to your thread specifically. I just found the statement amusing and apropot to a good number of things that go on here.

And in fairness to the OP, SX in the search thing is too small to get a hit and ESSEX doesn't get them all. Only about half, which is probably only 50, including the SX club thread. Hardly enough to learn anything.

They are good basses as long as you are willing to give them a complete setup (i.e. adjusting neck relief, bridge height, nut slots and maybe even fret level). You could pay to have all of that done and get a great playing and sounding bass for relatively cheap

This might be a silly question, but if you haven't spent any time searching these threads on SX basses then how would you know that there's so much talk about them?

While we're on the topic of SX basses... In the OP's defense I would note that the phrase "SX" can't be searched because there's a three character minimum imposed within the TB search engine. :mad: That being said, searching the term "Essex" has brought quite a few hits ;)

EDIT: Dammit blipndub and GregC... Your posts stole my thunder :crying: ;)
EDIT #2: Adding lousybassplayer to the list of posters raining on my parade (guess I should have read through all of the posts first, huh?)

there should be an entire sub forum for sx lovers, so we dont hav to be bombarded by losers who feel depressed because my $109 with little more than $100 on mods is better, more reliable, more fun to play, than their 'brand new', 'god-worthy' peice of fender marked, firewood. (although fender fire wood would probibly have an active ignition system, but give out far less heat than any other run-of-the-mill fire wood)

Aside from the fret level I have had to do that with every bass I have ever bought.

I think he was just trying to say that a properly set-up CNC machine running in China can produce just as good quality bodies and necks as a properly set-up CNC machine running anywhere else in the world.

And for the record, I know NOTHING about CNC.
