What's the dumbest thing a non-musician has ever said to you?

A few years ago I played a guy Anestesia (Metallica) to show him how amazing Cliff was.
When I asked him what he thought, he replied:
"I enjoyed it once the rest of the band kicked in, but before that it was boring" :scowl:

amen cliff kicks ass.. but i still prefer trujillo.. thats just my opinion

"This is something other musicians mainly emo and metal people ask me, "Why the hell do you have a horn section""

can you explain that to me? im in a metal band.. and i dont understand the horn section thing either.. no offense

"Well it isn't like may -if any- women are clamoring to get a hold of the Bassist"

haha my gf actually got with me cause i play bass.. she says she loves the vibrations it sends through her body when its boomy and overpowering lmao

My favorite has always been the drunk non-musician who walks up to you after the gig and says "You know....the rest of the guys in the band are OK...but you?....you're going places my friend." And then he wlaks up to another band mate and says the same thing.

ive had that one from a drunk russian and then proclamed i was the best bass player since slash from guns and roses

A couple of weeks ago I was trapped by close family member's employee who heard I was a musician, and felt the need to explain to me what I needed to do to "make it". Ya see, musicians don't realize that all they have to do it get on a show like American Idol. They get tons of publicity like that, and then can do whatever they want on their own. All I need to do is get on that show...

I explained nicely I've been living music and the business for over 30 years, and he just kept going on and on. It was excruciating and I really really wanted to tell him to just shut the eff up, but I smiled respectfully and told him he was absolutely right. Gonna listen to him and get on that show now. Got some work to do.

Not the dumbest thing ever said to me, but it's what came to mind. A girl at a gig once told me she loved our band but wanted to know why we didn't have a bass player.

This happens all the time when I play guitar....

Something like this from a perfect stranger, "When I was in college I had a roommate, man was he good at guitar. He played country and could sing, he'd learn songs right of the record..."

Me, "And your telling me this because?"
