99 VW Jetta. What didn't break on it either worked intermittently or was soon to fail. Bought it with 30K miles on it, sold it at 50K, and put over $2000 into it during that time. What a stinker. No wonder VW used to only have a 2 year warranty!

What's the worst car you ever owned?

1995 VW Jetta III GL. Most problems on any car i've ever owned. And required the most money to fix. I owned two previous VWs which were great.
I've been pretty fortunate with my cars, but a guy that I used to work with bought a brand spankin' new Lada when they were first introduced in Canada... after the first winter, it was completely falling apart, rusted to hell and spent an enormous amount of time in the garage. It was just a pile of junk.

1995 Dodge Intrepid. Actually, it was my wife's first car, which she bought while we were engaged. We bought it with 147,xxx on the clock and later found out how poorly it was upkept. It gave up the ghost at 178,xxx and we were going to give it away to one of those charities... but the plates expired and the apartment complex we lived in had it towed away. No, we didn't try to get it back.
Shame that that car died like that, because it drove extremely well and was rather comfortable.

I had a 73 vega GT wagon, painted competition orange
but mine had a blown V8 in it..LOL
1977 Ford Grenada, I believe that year to have been one of the worst part from any car, anywhere in the world. Even normally dependable Volvos were terrible that year.
My wife had a 95 Neon, that thing was nothing but junk. It died before we got married, so i was never responsible for it. I have never owned a crappy car, I do my research.

Years ago a kid at work bought one of those . While showing it off and talking about upgrades etc... A co-worker of ours said "you know what I would buy for that if it was mine "
The kid excitedly asked back " WHAT!"
The response was " A ****ING FOR SALE SIGN!"
For me the worst car was a Ford Windstar minivan . The repairs damn near equaled my payments.
Like I said, not a bad car overall. Never left me stranded. But having your automatic transmission stall out is annoying. Maybe mine was just screwed up. But in its defense, since then the only other cars I've owned have been newer Subarus. Which easily blow the Lumina out of the water.
I have to correct myself here, the 2000 Dodge Dakota I traded in for the '04 was the one that said "Made in Dearborn" The '04 that's falling apart in my driveway actually reads "Vehicle made in USA".
I traded in the 2000 model @ 49k mi. because little rust spots were popping through the white paint all over the body, even the roof. I'd bought that one used and it was a good truck otherwise, so I traded it off before it hit 50k mi.
A friend of mine had one with a Ferrari 308 body kit on it. Looked really cool, but still a total POS.

I had a '72 Porsche 914. Only a 1.7ltr 4 cylinder, but still enough power to have fun on a twisty road and man it handled great. I miss that car. The Targa top was really nice too.

2.8 liter too small for the truck, had all the power of a 4 cylinder, with the fuel consumption of a v8. :::sadtrombone:::
4wd system that had such a complex tempermental vacuum operated system you practically had to have a degree in physics to troubleshoot and maintain it and HOPE it worked when you needed it.
And it rode like a dumptruck and handled like barge.
The only redeeming characteristic was that is WAS a relatively good looking vehicle.
