What's Up @ GK

While searching the big online gear outlets (GC, MF, SA) I noticed some had very few or no GK models offered. Only Sweetwater seemed to offer the complete line. I recall buying my MB500 from MF or GC a few years back. Now it appears to be unavailable. Is there a problem with GK sales and distribution?

More knowledgeable people I'm sure will soon chime in, but I believe that GK pulled out of MF, GC, and SA. Or I believe I read that somewhere on these forums.

You would appear to be right. They aren't listed as dealers on the GK website. I was surprised to see only 6 dealers in the entire state of Florida.

It’s not what’s up at GK, it’s what’up at GC/MF. GK dropped Guitar Center/Musician’s Friend as a reseller. Given financial issue with GC/MF, one can imagine why. Or maybe it was GC/MF’s MarkBass relationship.

I also understand GK dropped SA over their Hartke relationship.

No need to dance around the obvious; when a manufacturer isn't assured of getting paid, why would they send product to a troubled reseller?

I prefer not to state my assumptions, conclusions and guesses as fact. But, yeah.

I thought it could be a combination of the factors already listed (MF/GC finances, Markbass & Hartke relationships with their primary dealers). Luckily I live within a short drive of two independent dealers. To my ears nothing sounds like a GK amp. The thought of a bass world without them is unthinkable.
