What's up with Electric Amps?

Figured I'd chime in as well. If you find one of these used, you should absolutely buy it. ive played a superbassman 300, 70s SVT, meatsmoke and Mesa 400+ and the character and power this thing has is by far superior. By the way, I love all the heads I mentioned, I just like my Electric more. Super huge and genuine thanks to my bass comrade and amplifier priest @IngloriousOz for giving me a heads up on this amp.
Would I role the dice and order right now? No chance. I just couldn't handle that guys trip. And it literally seems like a trip. But I use a lot of pedals and this amp is by far the best blank canvas available for that.
I also own an AD200B and love it as well.
I took the amp to a tech in philly called Jim Walton. He has been working on amps since the 70s and he was very impressed with the wiring and overall quality. it's a shame that this guy can't get his amps done in under a year (or apparently under 3) because there is really no boutique or big name amp like it.

Well, long story short, I found a way and went back to CME and snagged it. Super happy I did. I LOVE the way yours looks @gregmon79 . If you ever part with it, you'd be crazy. But let's say that day comes, please call me. I'll throw plenty of pedals and cash your way.

I just saw Ufomammut and they were using a Hovercraft Elder Giant. It has quad kt88s and sounded really good. They usually use the same power unit as greg and I have but couldn't bring it from Italy. So Hovercraft hooked them up. For $1800 I would consider buying that head for sure.

So the power switch is an ignition? Bad assery, I tells ya.

That's a bummer about the super long build times on the Electrics. Back in the day, guitarists were waiting up to five years on Dumbles. And that's back when a Dumble didn't cost an entire year's salary. I understanding having patience when it comes to getting a high-quality piece of gear, but there's no amp I'd wait a couple of years for.

If only someone could tell me which ones sounded like which. Does anyone know what the meat smoke is based off of?

Really man? I know the dude is rough, but his amps are far from shody. The problem with these forums is people read one guys false post and them spread it onto other posts. I assure you anyone who owns an EA is super happy with the sound and quality and that's why you never see them up for sale. Sorry if I come off a little passionate on that, it's just simply not true.
And the band Sleep had issues with Matamp. Electric helped them fix them and by the time Al was doing Om he was using Electrics.

You cant assure me of *anything.* Anyways, you just got that Power Unit right? Off Reverb? I know the original owner, almost traded my SVT-VR to him for one of him amps (he had a Volume Unit as well). We got to talking while checking out each other's amps and he told me that he spoke with Al and Matt when he was looking at ordering an his EA and Joel screwed 'em over apparently. I'm aware of Sleep's troubles with Matamp and switch to EA. The amp has an awesome sound and has a bitchin' look but it just doesn't feel all that sturdy for whatever reason.

Haha. I can assure you that it's a great amp. So why didn't you mention that you played one earlier in the thread? Seemed like all your research was done today. Hmm. Gotta love the amp forums on talkbass. I should have known that you played my amp before. And that you know the guy. You probably know a little bit of everything, don't ya? I almost wanna ask what "doesn't feel all that sturdy means". The chasis? It actually feels very sturdy. Sorry that I chimed in as an owner and all. I should have known you got this.

It's a *very* small world. At least you got the best freaking deal around on one (which was more than retail on a new Orange). Also, I'm not the person you need to convince about EA, it's the OP. I've made my decision already. Just for arguments sake what I mean by "not all that sturdy" is the amps already feel 30 years old when you get your hands on it. As for me "having it" you *were* a little late to the party. OP was asking about getting a new one, not about your used one. So unless you're selling... ;)
