What's Your Bass/Guitar's Name?

I don't name my basses but I do refer to them as "my girls." I've always viewed musical instruments as female. I see a mild similarity in making love to playing music, therefore, a musical instrument is female. I've got a green girl, a sunburst girl, a fireglo girl and I will soon be adding a black girl. I also call them my Mod, my Jazz, my Ric, and soon, my fretless.

my first was a p bass special was named dimitri
MTD Z bass was Esmeralda
G&L tribute in blue burst was Jessica
Cheap Ibanez acoustic is Bettie
Roadworn Fender pbass is Sioned
my new Bongo is name less until I find something that fits
same with the pbass lyte I picked up (probably wont get a name till I defret it)
and my Upright is named Illianna

I've named three:

The Garage Bass - It had lived a number of years just leaned up against the trash container in the garage, waiting for me to find someone to give it away to (no one would take it) or break down and trash until I decided to take a closer look. Turned out to be a pretty nice knockoff P. It's a "Memphis" by Joo Yin.

The Cracked Bass - It's a bass that was described as having a small, hard-to-see crack along the G string about 2.5 inches long before I bought it. Turned out it's totally obvious and about 10 inches long. Oh, and it also has a crack on the back! Plays fine, though, and it's been this way since 2000.

And finally, my "Acoustic Bass". Well, it is actually an "electric" bass, but the pups were DOA and so my friends joked that it's an acoustic bass. Sort of stuck.

Words cannot describe, short of I'm not worthy. I've been playing a friend's $200 hand-me-down for three years since I started, and after gigging for a year now promised myself a real bass this year. So after months of following threads and trying every bass I could, nothing felt as nice in my hands as the Roscoe. And then this one pops up with every spec and wood I wanted. Fate.

So, to my question, as it's in route, I told my bandmates that "Billy" is on it's way. This image was in my head and now I have my very own... Billy Baroo.

OMG! Thaat is soo hilarious! I can just see you caressing your bass just like that!
I have two "twins", one fretted, one fretless, each named for a set of twins in a Robert Heinlein story. Funny what different things and memories mean in our lives! Tom and Pat.:bassist::bassist:

I had a really good name for my new Ibanez sr700 right before I fell asleep last night, and now I can't remember it. I was gonna name it Nikki like the bassist for the Silversun Pickups, but I may have to go with Leann (like Leann Banks of the Von Bondies), I'll see what I come up with. But my P bass copy is called Laura (like the bassist for Superchunk) and my squire strat is named Kristina

Love it!! :D And glad to know I'm not the only one who names my basses. The folks at church actually think it's funny. Some are even taking the time to REMEMBER the names and use them! :hyper:

Fender Jazz Bass Special in teal - Jade (no particular reason)
Fender MIM P in Lake Placid Blue - Chip (was severely abused several owners ago--when I acquired him, had multiple HUGE chunks of wood missing from lower body)
Squier Affinity P in candy apple red - Cherry
