My old black bass is Black Sunshine and my shiny new Schecter is Roseblood. So far anyway, that seems to be sticking.
I named my bikes. Pumpkin is my reddish orange mountain bike and Akyra is my teal road bike.
We've named some of our cars too. The Beast was a root beer brown 81 GMC Suburban, Pimp Mobile was an ivory mid-80s Cadillac, Wee Beastie was an early 90's GMC mini-Suburban, Sally is a royal blue 2000 Kia Sephia and Sexy Beast is a 2013 Hyundai Azera. We just call my Honda Pilot The Pilot. It feels left out and wants a good and proper name.
I would like to join that "Crazy Awesome" club please

Sometimes and sorta. They pick up monikers as they go, not at all by me, just quote 'creative' unquote bandmates. The good ones stick around.

The Mesa 400+ head is known as that #$*&^$ overweight piece of ^&%$@@#^ can't you find something a little !^$*&^% more heavy and awkward you &^%^$@ So named by the roadie
A Composite Acoustic is known as the Shredcoustic due to the neck being so damn slinky because it has no truss rod(s)

My very first post on TB was in this type of thread.
These threads do come up often, but they're always a lot of fun. I like to see what others name their instruments.
I always give my instruments women's names. They also typically have some kind of meaning. Here are my main axes:
Carvin LB76W "Claribel". Named for her claro walnut top, and clear-as-a-bell tone.
Schecter Stiletto Studio 8 "Jezebel". A female friend suggested this name, and then laughed heartily, as if she'd made a good joke. I'm still not sure I get it.
But I like the name, and it stuck. For originals, she and Claribel both come to the gigs, and their names kind of go together: "Claribel and Jezebel".
Fender Precision "Bessie". I got this baby for blues and other roots music, and she's named for the great Bessie Smith. 'Nuff said. Yes, she has flats. No, she doesn't have a tort guard.

My pickup trucks all had names. So did all my boats and my VW Bugs.

I only name things that have some standout quality to them. My 66 Starfire was affectionately known as the StarF*cker. My Kramer Duke, aluminum headless bass was Space Bass. Then there was a 90 ton Ibanez neck through that was Boat Anchor. But out of the 25 - 30 basses I've owned, those were the only ones I routinely referred to as anything other than what they are officially called.
