I call my bass the "White Lady" and a classy lady she is with all the right curves in all the right places and a beautiful neck! Uh-oh...I'm getting a little carried away again.
I call mine The Pink Lemon, because it's pink and it's a piece of junk.
I’ve always felt I should name instruments, but names commonly don’t stick. I’ve got two guitars with names (Amos, a sixties/fifties framus archtop with An unidentified neck, and the rat, a poopy strat I smashed and then put the pieces back together to make it play with only half a body) but my bass has never had a name stick.
There's a very appropriate Game Of Thrones scene I can't post here for reasons of inappropriate NSFW (or anywhere else) language. "Lots of people name their swords." hehe

Of no familiarity of Game of Thrones beyond headlines (and possibly missing something important):
Suggested to a friend the worst possible names for a hero's epic swords are Chim-Chim and Spritle. She replied she will now name her D&D avatar's sword Chim Chim.
Possibly these are good names for red and white basses that aren't already named Waldo.
You must be a young 'un. LolUnfamiliar with Chim Chim and Spritle. Must research.
Hahaha - gotcha, was rusty on my Speed Racer mythology - knew there was a familiar ring, but couldn't place it!
I have never "named" a bass usually call them My.... (insert brand or model name here). Recently my Ric has been nicknamed "Morty" by my bandmates
I haven’t named any of the basses that are stock or pretty close to it. They are simply The Alembic, The Tobias, or whatever. My Zon is The Fretless.
Certain basses that I’ve put together myself or had substantial restoration done on them are all named.
Bucephalus is named for the Black Stallion, a movie our family watched a lot when the 4 kids were small. My username is a misspelling, which happened because there was no internet at the time, and that was my guess from the movie. Can’t remember if the kids (now adults with their own families) named it or I did. I used to play Disney songs for them on it. Bass came out of a pawn shop in Flint MI, stripped, defretted, non-functional truss; and was brought back to life by Bryan Galloup.
Bass of Clubs (BOC). This bass is just an accumulation of parts from over the years. It’s been fretless, fretted, passive, active, natural, black, etc etc. I have no idea how many gigs it’s done in various phases.
The Albatross. This one is new on the scene. I posted an explanation of the name in another thread.
