What's your best find or deal?

Best deal I ever got was an Aria Pro II fretless, in exchange for an EHX Micro Q-Tron I paid $30 for.

1970: 1960 Fender Jazz Bass with the stacked knobs, $150.
1974: 1960s cherry red Gibson ES335 guitar, $200.

I had serious GAS for both axes at different times in my musical career.

I still have both; they're both keepers for sure.

Wishes really can come true!

Should probably point out that I have never paid anywhere near asking price for guitars, basses, amps, or PA gear.
Deals are out there if you're willing to take your time and make some effort.
I only make impulse buys when it's a no-brainer and the item in question is exactly what I want at an insanely good price.

40% of MSRP is my personal max price-point on new or recently released used stuff.

Answered a CL ad for a "Hammond Organ B3 Free"

Turned out to be a 1963 A102, which is the guts of a B3, in a "decorator" cabinet, (with the addition of a power amp, a reverb tank, and amp, and three built in speakers underneath, (which the B3 lacks).

It is essentially a B3 and a tone cabinet combined in one unit, designed to for use in the average 1969s living room..

The cabinet design does not lend itself to being transported like a B3.

It is in perfect working order, and very good cosmetic condition.

Can' beat "free" but, my free organ ended up causing me to spend 800 bucks on a Leslie 147, so maybe it wasn't such a deal after all.

The whole rig may not have a high resale value due to the lack of portability, but it is hard to get that sound any other way.

I put it somewhat in the same class as my 1963 Ampeg B-15 as far as creating a vintage sound. Something that many have tried to emulate electronically without complete success.

Brings back a lot of memories to hear it though.

I'll say it, since the statute of limitations has ran out :D. During my wilder days as a young man, back in 1987, I traded a 1/2 oz. of Skunk #1 marijuana, plus a $75.00 check that I wrote, and a de-fretted, raped Fender Squire Bullet Bass, with 2 DiMarzio Model P pups, for a 1961 Fender Jazz Bass (Stack knob) that was in pieces in a cardboard box.
Everything was there, right down to the pickguard screws. The guy had it stripped down, ready to do a de-fret, and give it a rattle-can paintjob (Noooo!!!). I still play it to this very day.

Hand made custom bass for $90 bought from builder

Solid figured curly maple body wings

Wow. That's a nice lookin' hunk of maple. Kinda reminds me of what a bastardized version of a Bromberg, Brunnel, Cirrus lovechild would look like. I'd throw a pre & some pups in it real quick-like.

This story is both hilarious and awesome. Well done. Post a photo.

my 1992 AVRI 62 Reissue Jazz bass

obtained for FREE from the guy who plays bass in the band I play drums in. I asked him if I could use it for a few weeks in the band I play bass in. A few weeks tuned into a year.

We were at prax one day, and I asked "So, when do you want your bass back?" He said "What bass?" I told him his. and he said "That is yours now. I don't want it back." Of course I pushed about paying, and he said absolutely not. It was one of 20 J's he had, and he wanted it to be getting "good use"

best deal ever!!!
