What's your favorite drum solo?

In typical Ringo fashion, he detested the idea of doing a "solo". He claims to not have played it more than once, nor can he remember what he did.Nothing over about 60 seconds in length.So maybe Ringo on "The End."
+1 in Aja ... more like a "drum lead", not the pretentiousness of "drum solo". Total class!
I don't believe my two favorite drummers - Stewart Copeland & Bill Bruford - ever did solos, but I find their accompaniments / rhythms to be the most interesting, pleasing drumming I've heard.

I saw Bill Bruford perform with his Earthworks bands on three separate occasions over the years, and he always included a (seemingly-obligatory) drum solo during those concerts. Since Earthworks was more of a "jazz" band than Bill's other projects I guess that's to be expected. Those solos were always wonderfully musical episodes, far more impressive from a conceptual perspective than from a chops perspective.

If you listen to the studio version of Take 5, Joe Morello's drum solo is amazing, and yet he never actually stops playing the song the whole time! You can hear Brubeck's piano riff keeping time behind it, but there's no doubt the clock in Joe's head needs no help.
I was raised a metal/prog head but the first time I heard this tune all the way through I became a jazz fan, and it was mostly Joe's doing.
Wow, that was wierdly amazing. You know, when you look at actual 1970s films, Quentin Tarantino's wannabe 70s films don't quite measure up to how awesome that vid was.
Reminds me of a Billy Hart drum clinic I attended when I was an undergrad: Billy was supposed to be performing along with an ad hoc quartet of Berklee faculty members, but apparently there'd been a miscommunication and the rest of the band thought the clinic was at 1:00 instead of noon. So after killing time with some small talk and Q&A Billy says "Well, I guess I'd better start" and he begins to play his drums. And it's this beautiful flowing very melodic solo with obvious form/structure and development, motifs that become recognizeable elements as they got transformed by his improvisation, just a wonderfully captivating piece of music.
40 minutes into his solo the band shows up (sheepishly), gets on stage, tunes up quietly, and then they all turn to Billy, who's still playing. Billy looks at them and says "I'm playing 'All The Things You Are'..."
...at which point every one of us in the audience realizes, hey, he is! He's been playing that tune for the past 40 minutes, just skillfully executing the melody and form in such a way that it couldn't possibly have been any other tune. Mind = blown.
That was in 1980 or '81 and I still remember that drum solo like it was yesterday. Transformational.
Carmine Appice of Vanilla Fudge has already been mentioned, but my favorite song for his drumming is "Shotgun."
