I use it as a clean preamp. It's almost at the end of my chain. I use it as a regular pedal preamp in the chain ya know. I don't use the DI. I use it for its voice, the EQ and the flavor. Love that DG flavor. Then my board is plugged into the IN on the front of my amp. That's how I do.

I just picked up a brand new Spaceman sputnik and I'm having trouble getting a good fuzz sound? It's so thin and harsh sounding? Can you give me some pointers on how to thicken up the fuzz? I love the effect that the pedal has but the fuzz sounds like garbage. Please help!

@DirtyDuke can also help.

The Sputnik is super super sensitive to both power and buffers. So for example if you can run it isolated or even better with battery, it is happier. Then it hates hates hates buffers like the Thumpinator before it.

These issues have meant, it's come off my performance board but I will keep it forever.

Also - there are two internal knobs for fuzz and signal which make a difference

I'm so pumped that you guys are helping me! Thank you! Ok I'll mess with the internal pots and use a battery instead of my adapter. I hope this works!

Don't touch the internal dials without marking where they were. Simply put. The sputnik wants a passive signal. And HATES buffers before it. PM me for more tips

PS, the Gemini III is every bit as good, maybe better than the sputnik without the model complex the sputnik has. Lol. But ALL spaceman pedals sound better with passive basses

And I am back to the Bottle Rocket. The pickle was fun for a bit. It gets less fun in a band mix under a lot of settings that sounded awesome by itself. Still a great fuzz though.

The Bottle Rocket just rules though. Always has. Also honorable mention to the Baby Thundaa. It destroys!!!

Tough, tough, tough choice.

My current fave, mainly because I just got it and have been dreaming of superfuzzes for awhile now, is my Wounded Paw Attack Goat. SUCH a great pedal and amazing set of tones. Yummy yum yum yum.

My long-haul fave is easily the TAFM. incredible pedal. I'm pretty sure if I had to weed down my pedals to just one, this is what would be left standing.
