Whats your favorite Guitar amp?

If I would start playing electric guitar,...

I would go for the Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus. (a 2x12" combo)

Or recommend it to a guitarist I perhaps play with in the future.

The clean tone is just beautiful, perfect.

And if you let effects loose on it, you can make an interesting array of sounds.

I personally think this is a very underestimated amp.

I've got a guitar player who used to use a Boogie Rec for most of our songs and then he bought a Two-Rock John Mayer Sig (#4) and holy b@!!$ that thing is sweet. 100 watts pure-clean and then he runs a hell of a pedal board into it... perfection... then again for an $8500 amp head i sure as hell hope so lol

My favorite live distortion I've ever heard was from Rivera half-stacks, but I couldn't tell you what models they were. The guitars were ESP M-II's, and both guitarists were using the exact same (looking) setup. We were right against the stage, only getting stage volume, and these amps were absolutely killer!

In all other applications, my favorite amp has to be the Fender HotRod Deluxe. Not because it is the best in any one area of tone IMO, but because they seem so dang versatile.

Orange has always been a favorite of mine. But, I've only played the smaller combos. Of stacks, my vote has to go for either the Marshall JCM-900, the Mesa Triple Rectifier, or an Ampeg V-4. The old Ampegs had some dirt that the new ones wish they could, and QOTSA is my favorite example of a band that utilizes it.
