Thanks so much for the kind words, much appreciated. Yes, there are some killer basses in this thread that is for sure! I love these threads.

Sure, the bass has been played on 6 of the 8 "official" Happy the Man records and nearly twenty more bootleg "live" albums which are available worldwide.

You can really get a feel for the bass on the intro here with some heavy duty snapping:



And here is a tune showing a little more of the versatility:



If you want more, do a quick YouTube search. The very first album - called simply "Happy the Man" was 90% Rick 4001 as I didn't have the PRS until the end of recording - so we went back and overdubbed one tune "Knee Bitten Nymps in Limbo" so I could at least use it on one song on the first the album.

The latest one "The Muse Awakens" is the Roscoe twins. When I had the PRS appraised in 1999 I realized it could never again leave the house. I got Keith to build me medium scale twins - on the first one he duplicated the PRS neck for me precisely.

There are a few I like the looks of. The SB-1 and SB-2 are mine.

That's hard. I love the rick shape. I also like the Aria SB shape. The Alembic Spoiler shape is good. For non-traditional shapes I like the explorer best.

The Aria SB and Alembic Spoiler shapes always look great.

Wow! What an amazing looking bass! That should be in a museum. Seriously. So, I just googled the German manufacturer to learn more about this instrument. While I speak and read a little Dutch, my German is pretty rough, so I translated the page to English... This translated sentence is priceless: "Marleaux Diva basses are built with an extremely grumpy-sounding three-piece maple neck."

You obviously used Google Translate or some other automated translation means. The word in question is "knurrig" (growly) which comes from the German word "knurren" (to growl). A competent translator might have rendered it as "Marleaux Diva basses are built with a three-piece maple neck that produces an extreme growling tone." Or something along those lines. Certainly not "grumpy."

Context matters.

I haven't seen many Warwicks on this thread and while there are a lot of awesome looking basses, I must say the Warwicks (Corvette $$ and Thumb) always get me, especially all the custom ones they do.
