What's *your* favorite Peavey amp??

I have a soft spot for Peaveys older bass amps, I did a search and found nothing!! So like the title asks, which is your personal favorite and why?

My favorite Peavey was also my first ever decent amp which was a keyboard combo amp that my father gave around 1995-96! It weighed a ton and was huge, so it was real fun carrying that thing up/down stairs!!

But it sounded so great for bass, IIRC it had at least a single 15 in it(might've been 2 or even an 18", it *was* almost 20 years ago)


Anyways, I have no pics,sorry!! I ended up selling it to a Reggae bassist about my junior/senior year and got a trace Elliot combo...

A few years back I bought a much smaller"scorpion equipped" combo amp, but I though it sounded pretty terrible!!

I've had a few amps since high school of course, but I still regret selling it to this day... So what's your favorite Peavey??

And yes, I know they're heavy and not the most pristine sounding and no, a Peavey wont unseat either of my GK's...

But, they are sturdy workhorses built to last and take abuse like no other...

I finally gave away my TNT 130 because my band cleared out of our warehouse, but that thing was the best damn $30 investment I've ever made!

I played a VB-3 a couple years ago that was probably the best sounding Peavey I've played, but I've got a real soft spot for the TNT 100 that belongs to a singer gal I used to work with. When my 73 V4B/810 burned up in a bar fire in like 1989 or so, I used her TNT 100 for 6 months until I could get an SVT and 810. It was not bad at all. Got a good solid sound, always worked, always had enough juice to handle the gig. Her daughter ended up playing bass with her, and she still uses it.

I've only owned two full blown Peavey amps. A Mark VIII XP Series and a Kilobass. Well, three actually. I owned a Kilobass back in early 2000 then acquired a Max preamp/power amp. The preamp sections of each are basically the same so I felt that I could get the same from the Max. Sold the Kilobass but always regretted it. Reacquired another Kilo a couple of years ago. I guess the Kilobass is it for me......

A Peavey DECA 700 PA amp that I bought in the mid 80's and I still use. I run a preamp into it and use it for bass.

The thing just keeps working without any issues and has required no maintenance.

I bought my first Peavey in the '70's. It had the big chrome knobs and a 2-15 cabinet. All I cared about was the price and it was loud. It was my favorite PV amp. I owned several before switching to GK in the '80's.

I want a peavey superfestival so bad go listen to Death From Above 1979 in his own words uses no distorition pedals and its the most amazing distroted tone. They are hard to find tho

My pick has to be the TNT-150 used and abused it for years never let me down Add the powered 210 and it would fill the biggest of clubs. Stolen in 97 I went to the Century 120 It lays down the lows but lacking in features nice though

My first serious amp was a white face T-MAX 115 combo. Great amp - up to 500 W, stable down to 2 ohms, black widow speaker, great feature set.

And of course that Peavey durability. The thing once took a header off an equipment cart from about four feet up, face first onto concrete. Broke a couple of knobs but it still worked fine. Not sure but I think the concrete was damaged.

Not an amp but a Peavey 1820 bass cabinet. I put one new 18" Black Widow and two new Scorpion field replacement speaker baskets in. I ran it bi-amped with an Ampeg SVT 3Pro and an Ampeg B2-RE. It was thunderous, about 160 pounds and nuke proof. That BC Rich Mockingbird with Nordstand pickups and Aguilar preamp made it sound awsome

Peavey Megabass head. Will Lee used one on Letterman years ago when they still did the show at NBC.

My first pro quality amp was the Peavey Megabass through one of those 1820 cabs. Very loud and reliable. The sound was very good too.
