What's *your* favorite Peavey amp??

When I sold my SVT in 1980 I bought a Mark III and immediately modded the crap out of it. I added two more upper bands of EQ to the graphic EQ, added an active aux in with a presence control. I also added a compression control to control the DDT compression and upped the main filter capacitance for added headroom. I biamped using the tube preamp of my 65 Bassman into the aux input, used the 300 watt SS power amp for the low end, and the 50 watt tube power amp in the Bassman for the mids and highs.

Into a pair of 1820's and a bank of Piezos and it was glorious! It served me well for years..

My favorite PV amp.

although this is kinda not the answer you are looking for- I had tremendous luck with the IPR 1600 power amp. Though it's not really a bass amp in the spirit of the post- it was one of the most transparent, clean, punchy power amps I've ever used. So by that token-it gets my vote :thumbsup:

I had a Peavey power amp with a Peavey bass pre and a Groove Tube pre and that Peavey took a lickin and kept on kickin. Seems like it was a 2600 but can't really remember. Purchased it fried then took it to Peavey and waited on it to be repaired - took under an hour to restore it to like-new. It was heavy, though.

my triumph 60 I brought new in 1988 , I still have it ,and its has a awesome clean channel with a warm bright tone from its 3x 12ax7 and 1x 12at7/ECC81 preamp tubes .

yes, these things are a tank! have one slightly different I got for Christmas in 1990 and still use it.
always been a fan of Peavey gear, built strong and inexpensive.
recently bought an IPR2 2000 used for $200 to lighten the load of my Ampeg B4R.

1990 Alphabass head. 160w of pure tube power :)
On top, Alphabass preamp that I'm using when gig gin ampless and going directly to FOH.

Also play guitar, taking only my Eleven Rack when gigging, going directly to FOH. When playing at home I plug the 11R into a Peavey Classic 60/60 tube power amp (in rack) and Peavey 4x12" cab loaded with Celestion G12K-85 speakers. What a big sound!!!

Kinda of funny that a guy in the late 80s was using the exact same amp with a wired setup.

Damn, that sounds like a cool mod to do!!
