I have a few on my list, and none are custom jobs. Most custom's just don't interest me.
Conklin GTBD-7 - After looking at a million reviews of this model, the GT-7, and the Ibanez BTB7/E models, I decided that the GTBD-7 was what I was after. It's neck has been essentially compared to a Jazz neck, rather than a Precision neck. This thing just plain sounds fantastic. The only thing it's missing, I think, is an active/passive switch, but that could be modded if I really decided I needed one
Ibanez BTB1406E - It's the pickups and pre-amp here that are the main attraction, outside of gorgeous woods. Beautiful tone that can handle anything you throw at it, and you can go from active to passive at the flick of a switch. Sure, I could go with the less expensive SR equivalent, but it's the 18mm string spacing that sends it over the top for me. The body kinda grew on me.
Spector Euro 6LX - I love Spectors. I really do. I used to have one, and I really miss it. It was an NS2000/Q5. It had some sweet, articulate tone and bottom end to it. I found a 6'er version of it for sale, and I'm going to try to get it before it's sold...hopefully within a month or so. I'd love to get another Spector, but I want the right one. I have nothing against the Legend series...I'd take one of those, too and convert it to all passive! (Actually, that's not too bad of an idea...)
Fender American Standard Jazz V - I love a good Jazz bass, but every time I play my 4-string, I want to smash it to bits because I get frustrated because I don't have a high C. I'd want to keep my love of J's to a passive fancy
Warwick Alien 5 - Some may ask, with all the ERB's on the list, why not the 6-string version? The answer is simple. I don't want it because it'll be used for piccolo bass. The G is already at a 20P...finding a 10P is difficult, and that's way too high anyways.
ESP/ LTD F-5E - This one's all about the body! Honestly, I doubt I'd even change anything to it. I have to give ESP some credit with their pickups and electronics.
Music Man Stingray 5 HH - Because they just don't come in a 6, and I don't like that Bongo's are made out of basswood.
BC Rich Virgin NT - The only 4-string I want. Just a completely sexy body! Too bad it was discontinued...
*Edit*
I may as well add one more
Warwick Fortress 5 - Because a bit of Jazz variety is always nice, and I really want a Fortress, regardless of branding.
An honorable mention, simply because it's a limited edition:
Warwick Fortress 5 LTD - Beautiful!!!! Nordstrand Fat Stacks, and because it's the only Warwick (electric) body I like, outside of a Buzzard. .
