I really have been enjoying this thread. Some thoughts:
I appreciate other people's ability to own nice vehicles and other such things. Me, a vehicle is merely a mode of transportation to get you from one place to the next. All I ever wanted was a comfortable ride (at least to me), AC and a good radio/cd/cassette/8 track/streaming sound system. My current car is a 2014 Ford Fiesta hatchback. It still has less than 25,000 miles on it, since my driving has petered out after retirement. I could probably leave it in a parking lot, with the windows rolled down and the key in the ignition and it would probably still be there at the end of the day.
It is typical of all the cars I have ever owned.
My only extreme is that I believe that life is too short to waste on cheap cigars and cheap whisky.
Kids attempted to bully me in school. My first experience with it took me to my father for advice. He told me that kids would bully me until they realized it was too painful to do so. Since I was either out sized or out numbered, pure physical confrontations wouldn't work. My little devious mind set to work making short wooden dowels with tacks glued to the ends. I even made a little sheath to hang on my belt under my shirt to keep them concealed. After the first trial, which was a success, I was hauled into the principals office and my father was called. After hearing of the incident from the principal and possible punishment, my father asked the principal if he was going to punish me for defending myself from a physical assault? Isn't he and the school supposed to protect kids from bullying in general and physical assault specifically? The matter was dropped and I developed a reputation not to be messed with. When I got into high school, some of those old classmates wanted to see if the reputation was still true, it was and I was even more devious.
Just a variation of an old saying in this case.....speed and guile beats size and strength every time.
I leave notes on mis-parked cars sometimes. The one in this thread is a new one for me to try.
I like Tesla's. I like Space-X. I live in Texas. Looking forward to watching rocket launches in my backyard.
