When did you first learn to hate ?

It probably had something to do with my older brother and the thrice daily beatings. That thing where he'd sit on my chest and pin my arms down and let a loogie hang out of his mouth until it inevitably ended up on my face may have contributed as well.

I haven't yet.
I don't proclaim to be some sort of great person, in fact, I can be a total arse, but I can honestly say that I do not nor have ever outright hated anyone. I may dislike some, or get angry at someone but I have yet to actually hate someone. I'm not even sure what that feels like.

ha! I had that too, I reciprocated by showing my mom where he stashed the Hustler mags he stole from the local deli. Everytime he did the ol' hock-a-loogie trick, I made him pay dearly. He may just hate me now :)

When I was six years old and my baby sister was diagnosed with a tumor behind her eye. My folks told me that Gawd might take her to live with him. She ended up losing the eye but living... even though he didn't take her... I have hated Gawd ever since for doing that to my little sister.

I'm okay now though... I found I could get rid of that rage by just denying that budhole's existance all together!!

:)

What I learned was not to hate. It's a counterproductive emotion and will solve no problems. Unfortunately, American English often seems to equate "hate" with "dislike", which is on another scale altogether.
