When do you know you have too much gear?

I think it’s when you start forgetting what you own and where it is. Though I think this is a young person or very old person problem. In my early 20’s when I was recording bands and playing guitar bass and drums in different bands I had poopie all over the place and loaned (for free of course) to friends all over the place. In my late 20’s I was getting calls from people “yeah we’re moving out of the rehearsal space you need to come pick up ______ if you still want it”. But at one time I had lots and lots of guitars and basses and mics and stuff. I have a small fraction of that now.

When do you know?

Personally I feel like I’m there.

I have 5, 5 string Basses.
3 Fender Jazz
2 Fender Precision’s.
All 5 string. All American.

I have 6 amp heads.
Gallien Krueger MB-500
GK MB-800 Fusion
GK Legacy 800
GK Fusion 800 s
GK Fusion 1200 s
Mesa Subway D-800+

I have 6 cabs
2 GK CX210s
2 GK 410s
2 Mesa Subway 212s

I’m currently waiting on Sweetwater to get stock on the new GK neo IV 212s. I have a pair of the 8 ohm models on order.

Yeah. I got a lot of sh**.

When do you know you’ve gone to far?

Well, I don’t have that much musical gear, but I do have enough gear to cover any sort of job that may likely come across my plate. I’m a firm believer in having the correct tools for the trade with zero duplication, other than a spare just in case something fails at an in opportune moment.

It would be really odd if two of anything did that at one time. It’s been extremely rare any of my gear failed on a gig, and I’ve been gigging for a long time.

I really shouldn’t comment on how much stuff, because, if I went into my tool chest, I’ll bet I’ll find at least 25 slot screw drivers in there. LOL!!!

Hello
I am looking for some light head.
I have already Trace Elliot AH1200-12, nice amp!!!!!!! with 30,40Hz correction (helpfull on high volume), but 26kg.
During last purchasing of Fender Precision profII 5 String bass, i checked at Shop GK Legacy 500. I was surprised all knobs at 12' at sound was OK.

I played Markbass, Aguliar, Eich (Tecamp) and sound was in not my taste.

I wanted to buy a mesa from my friend recommendation, but is no Mesa stuff at Europe last 2,5 year.

Still last piece of GK Fusion 1200 is in Europe at one shop, but I still thinking about Mesa

Could you compare this two amps GK and Mesa which you have?

Now I have 2 pcs od Aguilar DB112, and one 2x12" Handbox cabinet ( best sounded 2x12 imho).
