When you play with a pick, what kind do you use?

Actually, IMHO I think it makes a BIG difference both in tone & usability. I have more picks than sense for both guitar & bass for that very reason. The one I always come back to for bass is [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. I find that it's easier to hold on to. Also, you can leave it on which makes it possible to switch back & forth between using a pick and your fingers during a song if need be.
Tortex. My pick holder usually has a variety of .60, .73, .88, 1.0, and 1.14 (aka orange, yellow, green blue and purple).
It all really depends on the song/style. I play finger style a lot. But I grab a pick quite often too.
And put me on the list of people who think it makes a huge difference how thick your pick is on tone. That's the only reason I bring multiple thicknesses. If I only used feel as a deciding factor I would play the .88 (green) all the time.
For up and down grindy tone the .60 (orange) works best for me. For only down stroke chugging away on 1/8 or 1/4 notes with big round tone the thicker the better so I go with the 1.14 (purple).

i'd generally use the clayton's pick like the ones @Goad posted too, but recently have been making my own with this thing:
in my line of work, i'll usually get a good amount of temp badges, so punch myself three picks from any one card. works out pretty well too.

I use the Clayton custom picks with my band's name on them. Colored Delrin (.5mm), standard shape.
I normally use Dunlop Standard Tortex .88's (green) but I've found myself using the 1.00 (blue) lately for a bit more attack and punch. I keep a bunch of different ones on hand in my kit for different needs. I picked up a pack of .50's (red) and I can not for the life of me figure out when I would ever use these for either guitar or bass. They're soooooo light and floppy! The black ones on the end are Dunlop Max Grip Jazz III's that I use for the occasional jam on the acoustic guitar.

Same here - 1.0 mm. I have big hands and I feel like I have a solid grip on them when I play.
Dunlop max grip or gator grip 1.5 mm. Any thinner and they tend to pop out of my fingers when playing. I've also found that in general a thinner pick lends to a brighter sound (more treble). FWIW.
