When you play with a pick, what kind do you use?

I know the type of pick doesn't make much of a difference, I'm just curious.



Also, does anyone know what type of pick well known pick players use/have used? Such as Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Roger Waters, Sting, etc.

Duff Mckagen, Guns n Roses, awesome sounding Bassist, DD Verni Over Kill, has an awesome style and sounding Bass too. I never use a pick, but I got my 3 finger tips all plastic tipped calisses sounds like 3 picks and I will just turn the treble up a little clearer to get that pick sound when I want.

I've been a finger dude since day one, late 70's. The last couple years I've been transitioning to a pick because of the added bite they deliver, especially with a Rick. Started with Tortex, then Dunlop's, now these Dava's and absolutely love them! Almost pretty enough to eat.

No slipping whatsoever.

The type of pick makes a big difference for me. For many years I never used a pick, but I was missing out on too many sounds. I wanted a pick that gave me enough control so I didn't have to anchor my ring finger or pinkie to the bottom of the pickup for stability. I found a somewhat thicker and not overly large pick gave me the control that a thin pick did not.

So I currently use this Gator Grip 1.14mm:

I've bounced back & forth, but i don't think i've found the one pick that i'd swear by forever, but i mainly use Jim Dunlop picks. Usually gauge .96-1.0 for bass.

For most things, Dunlop Tortex Green .88's in regular or big triangle. I've even got a few of the .88 Tortex blackouts too. For really digging in, I LOVE the Planet Waves celluloid wide in extra heavy (.125). Bought a pack on a whim to fill out the $25 requirement on an Amazon Prime order a few years back and they'v been wonderful.
