When you play with a pick, what kind do you use?

Dunlop Max Grip 1.5...the blue ones. I don't like thin picks at all because I find them extremely damaging to my hand, and I like picks with a grippy surface so they don't flip around as I use them.

I prefer the 1.0mm triangles. Dunlop Tortex if I want a little beefier tone, but otherwise I usually use Clayton Acetyl picks for their brightness.

Dunlop Jazz IIIs. I used to use the orange Dunlops, as that's what I have in my acoustic guitar case, but some of the guitarists from my church lent me a few of the Jazz picks for a show we did and I switched to those. When I play with a pick it's more fire tonal purposes, and I like the attack the thicker, more rigid IIIs give me. I also have two Dunlop Big Stubbies I've had for at least 12 years, but those are... not my favorite.

Good old Fender mediums, it doesn't get much more cliche than that. I find some of the harder plastic picks like the Tortex sound scratchy.

I never play with a pick, but my wife went into a music store and asked what sort of thing(s) she should buy for me (as a bassist)
and the clerk sold her a couple of music books and a pack of 10 picks. I don't know what the are, but they're a medium blue color.
That's what I would use if I had to.

Also I'm pretty sure Carole Kaye sent along one pick when I ordered something from her.
So I have some at hand if I needed them.

I either use a .71 Dunlop or an unknown Stagg pick I found about three years ago and still haven't lost. When I play softer styles of music but my fingers are worn our from finger style, I grab a felt pick, which mimics soft finger style perfectly.

When I reach for a pick I prefer polycarbonate. It has a bite and clarity to it that I can not find in other materials. Current first choice is COOL brand beta-sand 1.0mm as I like the grip factor. Thinking about moving up to 1.14's though

After that it's a toss up between Wedgie clears or Dunlop Gels for my polycarbonate needs.

Buy a lot of different picks and try them all and then use the one that works best for you. I have tried dozens of different styles and brands.
