Where are the doubleneck bodies?

It seems there would be some demand for doubleneck bass bodies (fretted/fretless, standard/piccolo) yet none of the usual parts and kit suppliers seem to have any. The closest Warmoth comes is a Strat/P-Bass combo.

Anyone knows why something that seems so obvious (well, to me, anyway) doesn't exist--or even better--know where I can score one?

Hi.

Not so sure about the demand ;).

BUT..

I've remember seeing them on evilbay from time to time.
IIRC there was a thread about a BO or SN Ric DN kit a few years ago.

Just a simple search with "double neck body" on evilbay yielded several results, both manufacturers and resellers.
JEM and SG style guitars rules that market, surprise surprise, but I'm pretty sure they will be willing to negotiate on DN bass bodies as well.

Any and all aftermarket manufacturers are probably able to make You one.
Not all the CNC routers they use are able to route to those dimensions though, so there may be some extra costs involved.
Some also AFAIK buy their stock with very narrow margins, so the blanks for a DN may not be readily available.

Back in the 80's when double neck instruments became more visible thanks to Hair Metal bands and MTV, anyone who wanted one, either made the body from scratch or mated two instrument bodies.

Regards
Sam
