where did the G B website go

While it is unsubstantiated, for me one curiosity is the fact that there have been a few of these threads and none of the regular Genz Benz guys have come into a thread quashed the "rumour".
Surely they have seen these threads?
Have you ever been in a restructuring?.. I have been in, and also sadly had to lead such activities, and i will tell you flat out that nobody knows what is going on other than a very small circle of people... decisions are made at executive level... which will not include reps, nor the folks who come here to TB.
I suspect that given there is this negative rumour mill which TB sadly is a key part of, there is nothing to be gained by a GB member sayin "i dont know anything about it"
Given that there are folks livelihoods at stake, I simply wish folks would have enough class not to keep repeating this rumour until there are facts out in the public domain

Whatever happens, Genz are still top of their game. If its 'long live' or 'RIP', I hope the staff are well, and that somewhere , their designs emerge.

If I had a dime for every instance where a TBer posted something they heard from a rep or salesman and it turned out to be bogus, I'd be posting from my private island right now while noodling on one of my 100 Foderas.

I just received an email from Jeff Genzler about chit chat men talk stuff.. not biz related. and it came from his normal fender address that he has had for a few years .. So i know he is still there doing his thing...
Okay guys I'm out on this one. Shouldn't have said anything. What I heard was from a good source, and I was only sharing that info with the fine TB community. It sounds like the GB line will be replaced with a new boutique Fender line designed by Jeff Genzler. Time will tell.

I'm in the same boat as you. But when you hear something from an insider who you know isn't prone to spreading BS it's hard not to give it some credence.
It just seems dumb to get rid of a successful, loved brand to replace it with possibly similar products with the Fender name, but that's Fender, I suppose. I would be happy to see quality products come from Jeff, whether it says Fender or Mashed Potatoes.
Hasn't been Fender in the past. Fender owned SWR for 10 years before shutting it down. And they don't call Squier Fender. Or Gretsch. So I don't know where this idea that Fender traditionally only wants brands to be called Fender came from. If this is the case now, it's a new development.
I don't think anyone is saying your intentions were bad. But there was a similar report from a "good source" in early January, and Genz is still truckin' four months later. I don't own any Genz products myself, but I have tremendous respect for the company and their employees who post here, and I'd be seriously bummed if the spreading of these thus-far-unsubstantiated rumors hurt their sales and hastened the company's merger/disappearance/etc. Consider the impact, that's all I'm sayin'.
You're giving far too much importance to what goes on at Talkbass...or any open internet forum for that matter. Only a fairly dim bulb doesn't take these kinds of rumors with a grain of salt.
