One thing that I think is worth mentioning is consider where he plucks from. From an ergonomic perspective, that’s like having the bass a bit higher while plucking near the bridge from a right hand perspective - although you’d then need to have the bass more vertical to get the left hand positioning the same.

Of course, if you play where he did, then disregard everything.

i think it's always been slung this way, but i've let the strap out a few notches over the years --- because they shrink!

something like this. Generally at about 67.5° but I think it varies between 90 and 45.

started as low as I could when I began 30 years ago. Now I try to make my standing bass height match where it is when I practice sitting down.

I wear mine a few inches higher than how it rests on my leg when sitting down so somewhere between looking normal and looking dorky. Depending on what I’m playing or the groove I’ll slide the angle from 90-30. I LOVE having a smooth leather strap so I can easily accommodate my fretting hand needing to be in the optimal position.

I sling it where it’s at when I’m sitting.
May be high, but it’s comfortable, and after being an industrial mechanic for 34 years and using all nine lives it’s a must to prevent cramps and pain.

Eight kids and seven grandkids I’m past appearances and mating rituals. It all about comfort here on out.
