Where do you sling it? And why?

I wear it a little on the low side - below the waist, but certainly not around the knees. Say, about John Campbell (Lamb of God) height. The bass being a bit lower, and me being 178cm tall without the arms of a 215cm basketball player, that tends to mean the neck is close to 45° mark - but a little less.

I've always dug that super-low hang, like Paul Simenon or Krist Novoselic, but could never pull it off. I'm more of a Geddy Lee hang (which is the closest I will get to Geddy Lee).

I started out on guitar and never played upright so for me, somewhere in the middle with neck angle hovering around 45° angle. It’s determined by a combination comfort, fretboard visibility and plucking hand orientation that determines it. The look doesn’t enter into it.

I sling mine so the belt buckle is in the curved out portion at the bottom of the bass body, mainly to prevent buckle rash. The neck is held pretty close to parallel to the ground. This was not an option on your poll, not that I expected you to have every possible position listed.

Kind of sounds like the 5th option on the poll:
Covering my belly with the neck at 90-degrees.

I think I've tried most of these through the years. I'm interested in the why/why-nots of different bassist's preferences. Where do you 'wear' your bass? (photos encouraged!)

Oh yeah high up in my chin almost. My friend put my bass on and commented how high it was slung, and then I checked the strap and it was only one notch away from the lowest position. LK Straps are awesome! They make them short for us funkateers.

Around the belt, neck at 45 degrees. I’m 6’5” with long arms and that allows me to keep my (bad) wrists straight.
