The headstock's the best part. They do anything besides the standard Fender headstock or the Tele headstock and I want nothing to do with it.
True, but I for one would like to see the performer/katana headstock make a comeback

My point is, they would sell MORE of them if they offered people the colors they want!
I'm also guessing that there's a fairly substantial expense involved in 'tooling up' for a production run of a color, so they probably avoid things that will be of limited interest.

Haven't read through all the posts yet so I don't know if this was mentioned, but see here:

From the link:
"Customers, for the first time, will be able to order and buy guitars at the Fender website beginning in late November, according to William McGlashan, the founder and managing partner of TPG Growth. This includes custom-configurable guitars, like the famed Telecaster and Stratocaster that can be made to a users unique specifications. Such orders will likely take about two to three months for delivery. Thats the current operating plan. It could be much faster than that, McGlashan said."
Maybe they're going to have a Carvin-esque thing going on. If we have good color choices and the prices are reasonable, Fender will sell a lot of custom guitars.
you do realize that it doesn't matter what you play as long as it goes thru that Reiner it will sound badass, right?

My hope for Fender is that they finally bring out more J and P Bass models. Having only 20 or 30 relatively similar versions of each of these two basses is not nearly enough. I would hope they would also keep increasing the quality and models in the Squire line so that customers have a harder and harder time telling them and the actual Fender brands, thereby continuing to erode the Fender name.
Finally, I would hope they find at least three more countries in which to make virtually identical instruments so they can further confuse the consumer with dozens of version of similar basses called MIA's, and MIM's and MILF's and MIR, etc., etc.

And if they ever started cranking out modern cool stuff (like say Low End does), you know like say a fretless 6 string P/J? Well I'd have to start looking for the anti-Christ because the end of the world would be nigh! Hint: Remember the Steve Bailey? WAY Cool! Discontinued. Say no more.
