Which 212 cab to get

Take it from a 67 year old gigging bassist with a bad back. Order a 1210 Neo Schroeder cab. It's less than 40 lbs and sounds amazing. Pair it with a GK MB500 Fusion (4lbs) and it's growl will cut through the mix like nothing you've ever heard.

I'm in the market for a 212 cab, since I can't find a second Accugroove Tri-112L to save my life. But that's the footprint I want. I have it narrowed down to a used Bergantino AE212 or a new TecAmp M212.

I play just about every genre. I use a TexAmp Puma 900 head. With this cab, for bigger gigs, I'd be mostly playing a passive P/J 4 string or my Fender American Jazz Deluxe V. I rarely slap and pop, unless it is needed. I play mostly covers in wedding bands, but also have a fair amount of jazz and fusion/funk gigs, and double on upright a lot. I like a deep low end extension but not muddy, and a more even response across the mids and highs, so I can go either way towards warm vintage or modern funk. Can anyone subjectively compare these two cabs? Thanks.

I know you don't see them near you, and I'm not a cab expert, but you should be able to find an Aguilar GS212 shipped for around $800. I have the 8 ohm cab but wish I had gotten the 4 ohm for certain gigs where I use it alone. Still, Aguilar is fantastic for transparent sound (versatility). I have mine driven by a Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12 and I've been loving my tone for the first time in life! I often push my head and overdrive the preamp tube, but the Aggie never complains. I've been gigging this rig for about a year with no quality concerns. I have a 212 GK combo amp for jazz upright/slab doubling gigs but I like the Genz/Aguilar pairing better for fretless work as well.

Too heavy and too wide. I already know that Aguilar gear kills. I've never used a piece that I didn't dig, sound-wise.

I'd look at the Berg CN212. It's been my primary cab since they came out. I've got nothing but good things to say about it.

If I wanted to spend less I'd look heavily at the Genz, but I've never used one myself. I have used plenty of Genz gear though and I've always liked it.

Its my experience that giving detailed opinions and experiences with gear in threads suuch as these always leads to the inevitable "Dude my Brand X cab totally smokes that cab because it's awesome" and/or "that cabinet can't possibly sound good because of (insert science here)" comments.
If someone is seriously considering a piece of equipment that I own and use or previously owned and used, I'm happy to discuss it with them on the side. I'll leave the "Ford versus Chevy" stuff to others.

Big +1

People are playing different basses in different styles with different heads. Making categorical statements one way or the other is high school popularity contest self aggrandizement at its finest.

I happen to prefer one of the cabs that postings here are saying stay away from.

Much more useful to put up YouTube examples and then comment on what is going on or not and then let others come to their own conclusions. IMO

For example, here is the AE212, which people should apparently "stay away from."

Might not be anyone else's goal; but that's the sound I'm looking for.

I listened carefully to KJung's vids comparing AE212 to CN212; and while I heard what he was demonstrating, the CN vibe was not what I am looking for. Also, I didn't think the difference was worlds apart. I can see preferences either way, depending.

But, that's how it goes. We aren't all looking for the same things. Interesting discussions and comparing notes; but categorical statements without examples don't mean so much to me. IMO.
