which Ampeg SVT head to buy?

Probly 70% of my gigs would get me ticked off too, but, some, GEE it's fun to crank the 6550s!
This is usually just to the EDGE of break up tho, if I really dig in, it'll break up a li'l, play normally, it's clean.

It's fun to be excessive, but I keep an SVP-CL + GX5 around.
It's not as good as my SVT2, but I don't need to be blasting a drag Nova with a 502 and powerglide to the store for milk either.

Well, as I said, it's just for some gigs. And since I've been playing live since the late 70s, I do know if I'm too loud etc...
Mostly, the gigs Im talking about are where we're using a PA for vocals only, and therefore I'm supplying the bass sound for the room.
They are in the mino minority, but they are also very much fun when they happen

My SVT2 has a line out, it's the feel of it rattling my torso that makes me use it as much as I can. I have a black line SVT that has that 70's sound I prefer but it's at an anti-social volume to get that warm gooey thing. SVT2 is quicker, doesn't have as nice a voice.

OP missed a black line set for like $1500 last week.

810 classics pop up in Oakland and San Francisco around the 1st of the month for around $300. Starting to wonder if it's just the same pool of cabs changing hands.

It's an average price.
The blue line for $1400 is meh also.
Lots of the older pre hlf cabs in your area, I'd avoid all of those.

Some dude in Chico has one of the megawatt handling 810's he lists every so often, but even he agrees the NV610 is a better bet.

I'd wait to see what pops up closer to tax time.
Lot of guys are scrambling for $ this year bc of tax code changes.

I might have a line on a vintage 79 V-4B. I went to try it out and no sound. So the dude found a bad tube, and is going to get them replaced. fingers crossed he gets it working and maybe she will be mine!
