Why do you think you need all that cab? I haven't played a gig yet where a 4X10 hasn't been enough. After all, if you get much louder than that you should have PA support anyway and your rig is now a stage monitor.

Yeah, I've seen those cheap cabs advertised on Ebay before. Beware of cheap new cabs unless you are playing at fairly low volume. My Behringer 1-15 cab (used as a backup with my practice amp) blew after about four uses at medium/high volume. That was a $200 cab and appeared to be made well. It actually sounded great. At least before it blew. In your situation I'd consider using the same money and just buying a good 1-15 cab and using it at full range until you can afford a decent 2-10 or 4-10 to add to it later. My advice is to stay away from the cabs you have above. But I do not have any experience with them personally nor have I read any reviews on them. I like affordability, but I don't like crap.

Some people don't have PAs or crappy ones at that, and usually no subs.
Nothing wrong with having a multi-cab setup! :p

The PA systems here kinda suck and I've seen sound guys who don't like to mic the bass amps.

The reason I was looking at those cabs on ebay is because I'm friends with a band who is endorsed by the company that makes the speakers and they love them. I'm tempted to buy them because of my friends and their connections with Madison Speakers.

On a budget looking for a good 4x10? Check out the 4x10 shoot out. ACME is making a decent, cost conscious product that sounds pretty good. www.acmebass.com

This is one of many that I would look into. As far as the Ebay linked speakers... I have no idea, never heard of them. If they're brand new, cost less then a couple replacement speakers for the whole rig, and I've never heard of them...., I tend to shy away from them. I know I shouldn't stereo type like that, but I can't have a brand X crap out on half way through a show 1100 miles from home.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but I would not
buy those ebay cabs. Here's a few things to look at!

I agree. I guess I was just looking for more details about his situation. I am fortunate to have good PA (but not monitor) support for most gigs. My rig is really just a stage monitor.

I barely have enough time for one crappy job. I'm a music education major so all of my time is monopolized by the music department at UW

Yeah we'd all kill for $200K and a "ready, set, go!" in the Meyer Sound Labs company store, but, unfortunately not always the case... ;)
I rarely use monitors at all. I don't need it for drums, and I don't really listen to the acoustic guitar as much, and I've been playing w/out them for the last half-decade, so I can make it work.

NO!!!

Your money is better spent on some good cab's at least some Avatar cab's... they have a sweet deal on the Neo 2x10 and 1x12, that would be a awesome little half stack you could carry around with ease! Then... if you wanted to get a "clean" poweramp for your POD XTlive to run the new cab's I would suggest a Crown or EV poweramp for plenty of "clean" power... what you put in is what you get out, if you have coloration with your amp/poweramp with the Bass POD it will not sound like it should.

Just my 2 cents, I would go that route if I where you... but I am not you so... THERE! :p

1x15 AND 2x12 AND 4x12 how good would that look stacked!! a pyramid! :smug: you could carry it on too... 1x 10 then 1x8 then one of those little pocket practice amp you can carry on your belt!!!

The ebay cabs are a waste of money and time. The Ashdown Mags are decent inexpensive cabs, but I suspect you would do better with an Avatar 410 if you are buying new. However, you don't seem to have picked up on the best suggestion for loud, good quality construction and good tone; that was a used SWR Goliath. It would be within your budget and with enough power (Kustom Groovebass 1200 for example) you should be able to be heard all the way to Ft. Collins!

BTW, my sound man always prefers to put the bass through the FOH when possible. Unless you and he have unimaginable good communication, you are loose cannon in the mix: sometimes too loud, sometimes lost in the mix, and a few times just right. When we have a good sound system with Doc running it I am confident that each bar will be mixed well with each instrument as prominent as it needs to be for that bar. .
