Which flats for Ibanez Mikro short scale (28.6'')

Would you be of the opinion that there are only two options for short scale 5-string flatwound sets? La Bella and Dunlop?

I don't know enough about all the possible options. The Dunlops are great, I know that.

I also play with a wide variety of right hand plucking. I often use my nails but keep them short enough to disengage them for a softer sound. Lots of palm muting. Pick.

I don't play as hard as I may on other longer scale basses. I'm fine with that.

A bass so I expensive that works so well with the right strings. I'm still pleasantly surprised.

Short-scale is a normal ordering option for a number of Galli sets including the Jazz Flat JF45130, on the company website.
The Pyramid 640/5B may, or may not, be custom-ordered as a shortie set, by using the ad-hoc online form on their website, or contacting them (auf Englisch is fine) via email.

Besides these four (three?) options for short scale 5-string flatwound sets, I'm not aware of any other.

Last overanalysis question.... Dunlops are brighter than the LaBellas out of the package? How long has the "newness" lasted for you?

I've never had the LaBellas. The Dunlops were never like Chromes or Cobalts or even Fender Flats (1050L?). They aren't dark either. They seem to have held a steady tone. I don't have many choices for a 5 string 28 6 scale. I'm fortunate these are so good.

TI Jazz Flats. If the set you have is too long they can be made shorter with a special tool called wire cutters. Just remember they can't be made longer.
And no matter who says it matters if the winding touches the post, it doesn't. Ever.

The only string I've ever had break in 50 years of playing is a TI E string on a short scale where the winding was around the post. It broke at the post.

That's a bummer. I've got some longs on a short scale I play almost daily and they were installed middle 2019.
