Actually, now that some guys mention it, and thinking about it, the Jaguar Bass would be the ideal bass for someone who can't decide between a P or a J.
It's a cool instrument.![]()

What is the best bear?
I play a lot of blues.....then some rock.....then some crock (country rock)........for blues I love the P bass sound.....but since you have an A,B,C and D neck situations.......if I had a P with an A neck that is what I would play.......even a B neck......but the D neck is just too much for me...........simple suggestion......get the P you like.....swap out a Jazz neck and put it on the P......thin neck and the great P sound.......that is what I did and love it.......
Joaquin
Really? I always kinda' thought of the Jag as an active Jazz bass. I've only ever played one, so I guess I should find another and play it to refresh my memory.
Anyway, since I do not own a P-Bass, and I own several Jazz basses, I feel an obligation to Talk Bass to buy a P-Bass so that I can weigh in on these P vs. J threads.![]()
I think I am the only one who got the reference.
"What bear is best?"
