I think the P is the 1st, 2 jazz, but I see the over all point (one I have been making for years), that a soloed neck pup on a Jazz played closer to that pup can have a pretty decent p like tone. Nail it exactly? No, but certainly close enough that if I can only have oe or the other I take the jazz. Luckily this world provides me with the opportunity for both![]()
Do both have vintage style pickups?
To me the first sounds deeper which suggests P bass. But if it's a J with Model J's or something, that could explain it too.
