Which is the P? Which is the J?

1st one was a P.
I played them almost simultaneously (less than a second delay) and the easiest place for me to hear a difference is the octave at the intro. The first one seems to growl a little more at that point.
Just out of curiosity, what amp were these run through? Not sure if anyone asked.

1P and 2J - I went back and forth -but there you have it.
I'm posting this without looking at the responses.
Bass 1: Jazz. The bottom end sounds pretty plush.
Bass 2: Precision. Tighter bottom end, thicker-sounding through the midrange.
Now I'll see if the answers have been given yet...

sad that we rant and rave that a p bass is a distinctive sound and a jazz cant cop it.

ive notice one thing on here. the guys whove chosen the Jazz as #1 all seem to give a detailed explanation as to why they think it. most of the guys who have chosen P as #1 just seem to leave it at that...like theyre confident. not taking a dig, just a casual observation
I think #2 has a little more edge to it, which might fool people into thinking "J," but that J edge and particular phase cancellation of the two pups is basically irrelevant if the neck is soloed. I called 2 as the P before reading that the neck was soloed, but after hearing both, you kind of have to figure it is.
Several others thought #1 was P at first, until hearing #2. I'm one of them, and it was just that the "edge" in the tone seemed to have a P signature to it. Cheap sennheiser 'phones here.

You're right, I am confident. Could be wrong, but confident nonetheless. I've always gone for P's, and over time have grown frustrated with their singularity.. and that's what I hear on #1.
