Excellent thread, Coelho! Thanks so much for posting what I would call another "myth buster" thread. I think many people here pontificate about how much better X is than Y and how A can't do B, etc. Sometimes, myths are spread around here and people take them as gospel without any first hand experience. I personally think it's really hard to tell a P from a J with it's neck soloed. And depending on the bass and the pickup, it might be really hard to tell the difference.
We need more games like these to see if people's ears can really cut the mustard. The unfortunate thing is, though, that despite this great thread, the "myth" will be perpetuated. I think I proved my point that it's really hard to tell a well-set-up short scale from a long scale in my other thread that you participated in, but lo and behold, there is still tons of erroneous talk and assumptions espousing the terrible tone of short scales in general.
