Which is your favorite P Bass?

My 1970-Fretless P-Bass. Sunburst-Rosewood Fingerboard- Epoxied by HG Thor Labs. Bass is very light 7.8 lbs. and it sings.

Oh yeah, it's naturally distressed Seafoam, aged Tort, and rosewood slab board.

One of my favorite combinations. The only thing missing is the matching headstock. Now THAT would be a nice bass.

Honestly, the best P Bass tone I get is from this old girl- 77 Greco Single Pickup T Bird. Like a P on steroids.

The one on the right is an original 73 P bass and the other two are parts P basses. They all sound awesome but the 73 has this Mojo that can't be replicated. I've tried too and the closest I've come is the P bass in my avatar pic (late 70's sunburst p bass body, steve harris pickups). Nothing will ever beat pure vintage. It's the whole package; body wood, pickups, neck, etc.View attachment 734556

I love my 74, pretty much the same as yours. for all the above reasons plus the A-width neck. Had it since 1988. Back then they could be had for a song. There's something special about the early 70's alder natural finish P-basses that wasn't done before or after. Every bass player should have atleast one.

My '00 ash American Series is my all time favorite, but my recently acquired '07 American Series below it is challenging it for #1 status with it's lighter weight and slightly more aggressive tone.

I like my DLakin Bob Glaub model P bass. And NO............I don't need the Ambassador points. I got the Jazz Neck on it. Fell in love with the sound and neck. Was looking into some other makes of basses but since I play mainly Classic Rock and Blues have decided to also get the DLakin Jazz bass. Then I will have two basses with exact same neck that I enjoy playing.

I've been digging this one for a while. MIM body, Classic 50's neck, DiMarzio Model P, and Badass II. My favorite P would be one that looks like this only from 1977 with all the mojo that I hear about. Until I find one this will have to do.

I have a homebuilt FrankenFender Precision that I built to the spec I wanted., handwound custom built split coil pickup made by The Creamery, Babicz bridge, Schaller Tuners and a Stellartone Tone Styler 10 position tone pot. It sounds delightful and plays fantastic.

I also own a Fender FSR Precision Special PJ in seafoam green . An amazing instrument which is my main go-to bass for gigging live.

My MIM 50s Fender Precision Bass.
- Body is aftermarket: got it like that. Looks better than stock body.
- Stock everything.
- I love this bass.

I convince myself I own a vintage 1958 Precision.

The American Special FSR Nitro Satin Honey Burst...I have one of these, as do several other folks here, there are very sharp and have a unique classic look.

Which is why that's my answer too. Love that bass.
