I have a little mark 3 but I'm interested in getting a new one to go with my 1200watt barefaced big twin. The markbass marcus limited 1000watt is on sale and curious if that's worth giving a go as well? If you had to pick one for that cab what would you go for? Cheers!
The Stu Hamm looks cool if you need more power. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/amp...Hamm Signature 1,000W Bass Amp Head | $899.99
Hey lads, Yeah so I'm looking for more power really, purely for headroom. Lm 3 I'm pushing and I don't want to blow it. I've looked at all 3, the stu one really had me interested and is exactly what I'd like versatility wise but I can't afford it The ninja had my interest peaked too...so another question and probably really dumb one. Would I be better off/safer with an 800watt head and my 1200watt cab or could would I be OK with the 1000/1200? I see it as a with great power comes great responsibility job Gl
Actually anyone any experience with the marcus stuff? The 1000 watt limited version is going for 575euros on thomann which says to me its died a death and there's no reviews really online. Also not a good sign at all
Safer with 1000 watts into 1200 watt cabinet but always have to listen to your ears. You'll get a bit more clean headroom.
Keep in mind that cab is 4 ohms and quite efficient. 500w into it would get VERY loud. Heck a 300w tube amp would crank too.
I wouldn't worry about the reviews too much. The layout suggest lots of versatility, especially in the mids where good sound lives. They make good amps. If the price is right, grab it.
Ive had the lm3, lmt800, and now the ninja1000. I have it on my mb 2x12 rated at 800w and it has not disappointed. Ive had great luck w all my mb heads....And cabs. Lots of power w the ninja and dials in like the lm3. Im sure it would rock on your cab!
I've got a Ninja 1000 on order. Going back to the Markbass camp after a few years with GK. Excited for the change.
I just went from the 102p to the Marcus 103 500w combo. They definitely added bottom end to the tone and widened the tonal possibilities. I think it's not selling because it has Marcus's silhouette and they renamed the knobs one of them being "millerizer" aka the same mid scoop knob they have on all the rest. You have so many people who won't look past the color scheme and now you've added someone's image and name all over a product that might not be most of the buyers cup o tea. I think they should have left the graphics as special editions and people would/ should give them a better look. I couldn't be happier with my markbass, I also could give 2 ______'s whose image is on it if it delivers what I'm looking for.
Dude that's how I felt but hadn't heard or seen much on them... Ireland is terrible for bassists in a 60km radius I have the grand selection of 2 bass heads from "guitar" shops both Eden and both under 500watts so I rely on people's advice from talkbass! I've pulled the trigger on the 1000 Marcus https://www.thomann.de/ie/prod_AR_466405.html It's too crazy a deal to pass on. 100 euro cheaper than the ninja but if I don't like it I can sell it and get the ninja. After going through fender, trace elliot, Ampeg, hartke for amps I really have to say markbass is where its at for me. I doubt I'll be unhappy with it and yeah lol the aesthetic is crap but what has visuals got to do with sound ey Thanks for all the help lads, really appreciate it as always!!!
yeah im in an acdc tribute and up against 2X100watt (4x12) guitar cabs.... so im usually crazy loud + lots of low mids to cut. also i try emulate the different tones for the different songs so i go from crazy vintage to quite modern at times. plus i do love my funk, motown, blues and metal... so lol all that from 1 head cab and bass is a tall ask but my setup does it quite well...but only at home. it feels like bass players need to be frequency ninjas to just find that spot where we dont mess with the rest of the band and youre lucky if a guitarist knows what the knobs on his guitar do. lads in my band no matter the venue have the same amp and guitar settings just to give you an idea of what i have to deal with lol
Beware, throwing more power to that cab may not give you as much of a volume increase as you think it will. I was using a LMIII with either one or two Barefaced BB2 and I wanted more, so I went I got a LMT800, figuring that the additional 300W would be noticeable. They were, but not enough to justify the expense and I actually still preferred the LMIII. Based on that alone I'd rather look at the more powerful amps... but be careful.
As good as those Barefaced cabs are, you are asking a lot from it if you are competing with a couple of 100W 412 guitarists who I presume like it loud. Don't expect miracles.
I really liked the Ninja. Sounded like a Little Mark but with twice the power (felt that way) of my Tube 800. Guessing it's the same power amp in the Marcus. Curious to hear what you think of the Marcus compared to your LM3. Besides a different EQ setup I would think it would be close.
