Which neck, and why?

Assuming we're talking purely aesthetics, since no one but you can put it in our hands and make an accurate determination of effect on playability or tone...

I think they're both flat freakin' gorgeous. I am a sucker for bound and blocked, but that finish and the rosewood really compliment each other.

Good luck with your decision! I don't think you can go wrong either way. You're going to end up with a nice bass, great choices.

I just personally like the way the maple looks on that body better. The rosewood on that body looks like peanut butter and chocolate to me...

I'm REALLY drawn to that bubinga/rosewood neck... I just like the look of the grain in the rosewood and the bubinga looks awesome, plus I don't like maple necks with those big blocks. Also, I thing the darker wood matches the body in a more aesthetically pleasing manner.

I like the first neck better. The head stock on the second neck doesn’t seem to go really well with the wood the body is made of.

I voted rosewood because I like contrast between the fingerboard and the body.

I have 3 maple fretboard basses and two are black bodies with maple fretboards. I love black with maple. That being said I think I like the contrast between the two on a bass.

If it was a darker body I'd probably say the maple. Lighter the body I like the darker fingerboard.

A series parallel switch could be added without an issue but those controls work so well as is I see why you wouldnt want to mess with it.

If functionality and/or reliability becomes an issue, maybe I'll ask you to build one for me which incorporates the series/parallel switch.

Rosewood board for me.

The maple is more yellow and the body is more tan. It's similar in shade but clashes in color to me.

The rosewood makes for a nice contrast.

Neither. The rosewood looks nice, but the dark bubinga clashes with the body. The whole maple neck clashes with the darkness of the body. I vote carrots/rosewood with a maple headstock.
