I love vintage white pearloid on the white 'rays, especially with rosewood, but I bet it would look great with maple as well.

+1. I love white 'Rays with maple board and white pearloid pickguards. I still kick myself for not buying a White Sparkle Stingray 5 with that combination that I had been lusting for about 10 years ago. They subsequently stopped making the White Sparkle, but it was really nice. Especially with white pickup covers on it...

Ok, since I didnt want to start a thread in the same vain...

Tomorrow I'll be buying a Fretless SX Jazz in Lake Placid Blue. This bass is purty, though Im not a big fan of the white pickguard. Would you also recommend me the Tort guard?

What do you think, TB? I turn to you...

Still waiting for the tort to arrive, but here's the bass with black, black pearloid, white pearloid, and abalone.

If you click on the pics you can see them full size.

Screw tortoise now, abalone is the way to go! I've seen the light...

You've got mirror, black, white pearl, black pearl, abalone, and you're getting a tort. Add another color and you'll have one for every day of the week.

Of the 'guards you've shown, I like classic black best but abalone is a close second.
