Which Precision do you prefer?

I play these two pbasses with great frequency. It's a 2007 Highway One with the neck from a 2011 MIJ 70s P and vice versa. (but now theres a tort pg and ashtrays on the SB). does that count as standard?

Well, I voted before I looked at your pictures. I voted other spinoff thing, thinking Standard Precision is an actual MIM model, then for the standard you showed a Road Worn. I somewhat like the Road Worn, and all of my favorite P-Basses are Fender 50s/60s/70s Reissues, which would apparently fit in your "standard" grouping (No, I don't own all those models...), so I am hereby unvoting other spinoff thingy and recasting my vote for standard.

I consider myself a Jazz bass guy but having recently bought a couple Precisions for my stable, I am in love.

I chose the Standard P because I personally like the neck profile of a later model American Standard. I think I might like the sound of the Road Worn P a bit better though. Also own a 51 precision and really like the unique tone it brings.

Really not a fan of the 1.75" nut width though.

Still love the necks of my Jazz basses but that 'P' sounds great live in the mix. I am won over for sure.

The Cabronita says "Please?", the 51P kicks you in the nuts and grabs your lunch money. I like the 51P better, it is punchier than the Cabronita.

Sorry, I didn't really realize that I mixed in the product name... I was thinking "the most common Precision design" as opposed to the Telecaster and Cabronita and so on

Here are four of my P basses, from left to right:

69 Telecaster
55 CS Reissue
73 Alder/maple with "A" neck
78 Ash/Maple

Also have a classic 70's MIJ not in the photos.

Of all of them, I like the single coils the best. And the 55 with the body contours, soft v neck and light weight (around 8 lbs ) is a real joy to play.

The single-coil precision pickups have a beautiful sound, but I prefer the split-p. I think the reason is that I like the inherent peaks in its response. I can hear the split-p better in a mix. I voted for 'precision spin-off' because my favorites are made in-house at the Dingwall shop.

Now, the question I have is whether standard split coil P with slanty frets qualify as a standard P in this poll, or a variant?

However, if I could only grab one it would be a Standard (my RW).

Fender Am Standard post-08, Squier Vintage Modified Precision V, Lakland Bob Glaub or 55-64, Lull P5, Nordstrand VP5...

And of course the one to rule them all: Dingwall Super P.

...but I voted Standard because I have two of those. And I can dial the crazy custom into Standard mode.

My vote goes to the G&L SB-2, which was designed by Leo Fender and is perhaps more of a direct descendent than "spin off."

Although I voted Cabronita (it looks and sounds so damn gnarly), I equally like the standard precision. Regular precisions are great for funk/R&B, classic rock, or doubling an upright. But if one requires something dirtier, for punk or blues-rock maybe, the Cabronita is the ticket.
Its almost like a hybrid between a single-coil pbass and a split-coil, IMO, the Ultimate Precision.

I have both and to my ears the split P standard pickup is more agressive than the Cabronita - Cab is full but smooth, split P grittier in the mids.

of my P's, my favourite is the Lyte. I have two of them (one not in pic). Excellent basses. Quite under-rated.
