Suppose we created a reference thread listing the recordings of every genre of interest to TBers, which recordings should make the list?

It will be more helpful if people post specific album titles, not vague terms like "The entire Artist X catalog".

Here's a few I think would go in:

Revolver - The Beatles
Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Heavy Weather - Weather Report
Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
Mingus Ah Um - Charles Mingus
Mingus - Joni Mitchell (There's a thread about that album right now).
Clube da Esquina - Milton Nascimento.

This is a pretty broad stroke. Nothing extremely esoteric, as the goal is to list recordings that should be available to the most people as possible.

Repetition of titles is encouraged.
Nine pages and no one's mentioned Alice Cooper? Dennis Dunaway is a bass immortal!
Alice Cooper-Killer and School's Out

As relative newbie (6 months playing bass) who has hit a rut I was going to start a similar thread for some inspiration. Great to see a lot of my record collection mentioned so I guess I should just go back and start there. Surprised to see only 2 mentions for Brand X. Percy Jones is often overlooked but a phenomenal talent. Check out Moroccan Roll if you don't know them. Doesn't hurt that they have Phil Collins doing what he does best too.
