Hello everyone,

I have a very talented student who is showing interest in the work of Scott Lafaro. I am going to buy some transcriptions for her (and myself, to be honest) but I am interested to know what transcriptions people are using.

The Phil Palombi book looks good, but hard to track down in Aus. It seems at one point a TB member named Adrian Laird his transcriptions to a website that is no longer working. Does anyone have access to these? Any others I should check out?

Hi,
Your student has really good taste !

I spent a lot of time this year on my favorite electric bass player :

But Scott Lafaro is an Everest that I will have to start climbing one day !

Good luck to her.

Wow, Muck -- I am already one of your 248 subscribers! No kidding! Small world 'n all that.

That tone with the tapewounds is really something, isn't it? And that Bourns

Love the channel, so keep it up. IYI Charles Nagtzaam's channel is another smaller one I check regularly.

I'm currently working on a book on the subject.
Took me a long time to tame this bison but it was worth it !

Thanks for the link to the other channel.

I was just reading it -- how very interesting. Richmond's tone is instantly recognisable. I can't believe he remembers so many details from those sessions...

Best of luck with the book! I will grab a copy, for sure. I am a big Scott Walker fan (how I discovered your channel in the first place).

Thank you !

"The old man's back again" is actually the key which allowed me to decipher Dave's sound on Melody Nelson.

And If you're into Scott Lafo, this is an absolute must-have written by his sister :

Why not help your student make their own? Teach a man to fish yada yada

My personal favorite Lafaro is on "Portrait In Jazz." For whatever reason the trio always sounded the most spontaneous for me on that session.
