I think the only sure way we're going to know how many members are from California is if everyone who lives there went into their profile and typed in "California" as their place of residence. Until that happens we'll only get approximate numbers.

I think the only sure way we're going to know how many members are from California is if everyone who lives there went into their profile and typed in "California" as their place of residence. Until that happens we'll only get approximate numbers.

So,
Option 1: We expect 100% compliance with the many thousands of talkbass members, past and present, to each fill out their profile after reading one post in one thread in one subforum of one forum.
Option 2: We interpolate using known data to presume that bass players will fall in roughly a constant percentage among the general population.

Texas would have to have bassists spilling out onto the streets to have anything close to California in raw numbers, and while Texas has a deserved music reputation, California is certainly no slouch either.
I'd be real surprised if MI wasn't in the top three of active users are on TB. There's something in the water in Detroit that just makes bass players.
California or Texas would get my vote. I've also seen a number from Tennessee, but I probably notice them more because I live here.

Assuming the 'now' part, but I want to be accurate in my reporting as being from Delaware originally, I may be one of the only First State Representatives.

That certainly skews the desired results. As all 50 states would need to be counted together for comparison to other countries.

'Rhoad Island' is not a state.
OTOH, 'Rhode Island' is one of the 50 American States and one of the first states to foment the Revolution in 1772 (as in the burning of the Gaspee). Also it was last of the 13 Colonies to ratify the US Constitution in 1789. Just giving you a little US history as you seem a bit bereft of knowledge about the Biggest Little. Note that our tiny place that you think is not a state sports 2 US Senators, just like Texas and Colorado.
Oh, and the RI Bassist Club thread is interesting. Note that there are a threadload of bassists from RI here on TB, despite your rather ill-considered and uninformed statement to the contrary.
