Hey guys,
I'm looking into buying a Traben Phoenix sometime in the near future, and I don't have an opportunity to try one out anywhere near here. So, I figured there must be a couple people here who've had experiences with these basses. So, my question is this: do you think I should go for the base-model Phoenix or spring for the Custom? I haven't decided on the 4- or 5- string yet (leaning towards the 5 though), but I can work that out on my own I think. Thanks guys!.

get one of the new neckthrough Arrays! they are gorgeous, and they are some of THE most slappable 5ers out there!
good luck dude!

Thanks man, but I already have a pretty great "slap 5," and I'm really pretty set on a Phoenix. I like the Array and all, and I'll probably end up with one someday.... but I gotta say, the Phoenix is it as far as I'm concerned right now. And the Bootsy model..... no way, brotha. :p

Go with the Neo, or the Neo Custom, Seriously they have AMAZING sustain, and d*** near perfect bridge to body transfer, Really fast neck, really punchy, and a very reasonable price, considering it plays better and sounds better than a lot of the basses 2 or 3 times its price.

The lower end Trabens, IMO arent worth it.

How is the Phoenix "lower end?" It costs (base model) about $200 more than the Neo! Or do you mean the Array?

The array.

If you haven't played a Traben I would reccomend that you do before you buy. They have a "unique" sound.

and hes really right, they do have quite the unique tone, but theres a video on youtube that could give you an idea of what the Neo, or even Traben in general sound like.

I have played Trabens at music stores. What I meant by there are none very accessible to me is that the stores I've played Trabens at were, at the very least, 2 1/2 hours away from my town - and that store only carries the Phoenix, not the Custom. The nearest place I could do a side-by-side comparo is about 8 hours away. Has anyone done this? And I do like the Traben sound, and I've found that the Trabens I've played can do more than the one "unique" sound ( I think I know the one you mean)- if you play with it enough, I think many players would find something they like.
BTW, thanks for the vid link - very nice.
