White basses on stage

Me and Pearl, she was my retirement present to myself six or seven years ago. Ain't she a beauty?!!! View attachment 3454366 All my other basses feel completely neglected now, except for her black fretless Fender P half-sister that I take as a backup or for our first "lite" set.

Edit: yeah, it's sitting on a stool, I'm goofing around playing it like an upright for a Stray Cat's cover!

Edit 2: When asked why I don't play guitar I show them those hands.

I had a 5 string very much like this. Ebony fretboard...--Great Bass!

I'm with ya!

So many of us wear black or dark stage clothes that I just don't get the popularity of black basses, which disappear into dark clothes and black backdrops.

I

I play on a few big stages where the instrumentalists are in the back, 30 or more feet behind the singers. We don't get a lot of light back there - they like us to be kind of mysterious or something. Strap on a white bass, and the lighting guys will throw even less light on you, and you'll never see your neck dots. Dress in black, put in a dark bass, and you get enough light to see the dots on your neck.

I have come to appreciate the white finish on my Ibanez. I used to consider it sort of second to my black, dark stain, and sunburst basses.

It looks good and stands out on a festival stage without being ostentatious or showy.

It’s going to show the stage lighting, so it becomes a part of the light show.

And it fits in great at church!

I have a white Fender precision bass. I just want to change the pickguard from black to red tortoise, but no one makes one for my bass (passive active switch and four knobs). May have to get custom. (I have no idea what's happening with my left hand in this photo. Looks like a T-1000 growing a new hand)

Ha yeah guilty. This is totally a “I found an excuse to post a pic of me rocking out” thread.

That pickguard on the Mustang is flash. Great stage bass and my favorite Mustang I’ve seen on here.

I gots one of those too. :-) I recently replaced the stock humbucker with a Nordstrand NM4 and, with D'Addario half rounds on it, am happier than ever.
