Who all here uses Carvin amps?

Yeah I do the same thing. I use it then plug into my Korg and have to adjust a hair, but its not much. It's close enough for me.

I'm actually considering dumping my Carvin BX500 and SWR stuff and getting more TC stuff at this point. Really digging it.

I've been using a R600 Red Eye combo since I bought it in the mid 90's. Nearly indestructible with tons of features plus will run a extra combination of speakers at 2ohms all day long. Has a tube preamp and bi-amped lows and highs. Lately I have been using the Carvin line out/effects out over to a Ampeg PF500 to power another 410 cabinet. Could run the 410 with just the Carvin but need to justify buying the new Ampeg PF500 LOL. The Ampeg is a great little amp also.

I love my HD900 power amp. Five years of solid hard work and it seems to just beg for more. Not a single issue.

I've been using a B1500 for the past few years. It sounds great, has a flexible, straightforward EQ, and massive power! No complaints except that it's 3 rack spaces and a bit on the heavy side...more than I need these days, but the B2000 wasn't out when I bought it.

Madbassplaya, I know you think I'm totally biased towards Carvin, but the fact is that I don't really dig their amps. I've owned a couple, and they aren't bad at all, but I like my Markbass better. That said, if you are still digging your amp, keep it. Down the line you might regret letting it go. You know, don't cut off your nose to spite your face and like that. ;)

Still digging the Bongo?

I had two gigs this past weekend and its official...

My rig sounds awesome!

As much as I like the bx1500 what really brings it to the next level, for the tone I like, is the VT Bass. Creamy. Creamy. Creamy. It sounds fat, it sounds round, it sounds warm. Yet with the option of adjusting the semi-parametric low-mids I get all the punch I need and then some. I am sure my 15/6 has a good deal to do with the tones I am achieving too.

You guys seem just like the people to ask also as everyone else just ***** on what they do not own and tells you to buy what they own.

I am looking at buying a Carvin rig as they seem to be what I am looking for in the price ranged I can currently "afford". I am having a hard time understanding however how they rate the wattage on their rigs as what they say the wattage is, is not reachable at any impedance that the amps accept or the amp puts out.

I am undecided about the rigs as I have heard the 2x10s and 4x10s do not have the low end for a 5 string or not?

This is my ideal setup for what they offer as it gives me the 4x10 I want and a 18 inch for the low end.

I was also looking at this, but this cab does not support 1500w so I assume it is actually putting out 450W at 4ohm or 300W at 8ohm not the 1500?

I am not sure if I should be looking at 15 instead of 18 inch? I like the fact that the 1500 head has the EQ but if the 200 head is that much better that is where I will go and get a separate EQ

My rig was a 410/118. I switched to matched 410s and liked it a lot better. That 18 isn't going to get you any lower than a 410, trust me. What it will do though is blow up if you aren't careful.

Worth noting that I have had problems on more than one occasion with replacement drivers in Carvin cabs. The last straw was when my new replacement didn't make it one full gig before it killed itself.

FWIW, Carvin speakers are now sourced from China.

I did ditch my Carvin stuff for TC gear... but since then I have sold off my TC gear and back to an all Carvin setup.

SB5000/SB5001
BX500/BX250
BRX10.2 Neo

I do have a GK MB800, but I usually carry it as a backup or use at rehearsal these days.

My Carvin PB150 has been going strong for just about 20 years. Replaced a fuse once in all that time.

I have a DCM1000 that has served me well on and off for about 10 years.

My Carvin R600 failed. Miserable amp from the get go.

My Carvin 1x12 extension cabinet sounds great when I need more speakers for the PB150.

I generally like Carvin...never played an instrument though.

My experiences may differ from others, but I've always had good fortune with the Carvin gear I've owned. That said: Not all Carvin gear is for me. I've had 2 BX1200's, and now have a B2000 for large outings. Nothing beats my Epifani rig...but it's not always what's needed. Say/think what you wish - but IMO & IME Carvin amps = the best bang for your $$$ :smug:
