Who do you think would be good Superbowl Halftime performers?

I like the idea of Santana doing a 20 minute version of Soul Sacrifice followed by Alvin Lee doing I'm Going Home!!

Only problem is that Alvin Lee died March 6, 2013.

Sure. Not for 30 minutes, but blend that with the other elements I mentioned and hell yeah.

I'm sure most here are familiar with Trans Siberian Orchestra. Those lighted drums reminded of the video of the house decked out in 10's of thousands of lights choreographed to T.S.O.'s "Wizards In Winter".

Trans Siberian Orchestra would be awesome.

I'm actually surprised Kiss has never done it, now that I think about it. Probably upstage the game too much.

I'm pretty sure they were the opening act for the same Super Bowl when Cher sang the National Anthem and...um...Gloria Estefan maybe? ...was the halftime act.

Seeing as how it will never be live, I've given up having any strong feelings about the performers. I found this year to be entertaining. Bruno Mars is a stellar performer and musician, and Coldplay weren't too bad. Beyonce is still a great dancer. I suppose that for once, I just didn't have the energy to be edgy and just lay on the hate like so many seem to do. I just enjoyed a beer while watching the program unfold.

That being said, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats would be an awesome show.

Now back to our regularly scheduled episode of "Old Men Yelling at Clouds".

Back to the G 'n' R thing. I saw them on the Metallica / G'n'R tour in 1992.

Faith No More was supposed to be the opening act for that gig but dropped out a few nights earlier and...notice the location, dates and bands on the posted ticket stubs.

Yep. Drove an hour to see Faith No More the night before, got home way too late, and then woke up way too early and drove about 3 1/2 - 4 hours to see Metallica/ G'n'R.

This was not long after James got blown up in Toronto. John Marshall from Metal Church, who was James' tech at the time and took over duties on rhythm.

On this particular gig G'n'R closed for Metallica.

Both bands put on great shows and I believe it was actually one of G'n'R's better showings on that tour.

The punch line is that I left before Axl did.

I had a long drive home. Give me a break.

Y'know, as soon as I saw this thread title I thought of one of those Japanese all-girl pop/metal acts that I saw a video of recently. Can't remember their name though...and if you Google "Japanese all-girl pop/metal band who perform in plaid schoolgirl miniskirts and thigh-high stockings" you get an astonishing number of hits! And none of them are the band I'm thinking of!!! Is this a whole new genre of kiddie-pop?




Edit: Found it...Band-Maid. These girls are perfect for Super Bowl halftime!
