who DOESN'T use velcro?

Why don't pedal manufacturers either install or at least provide velcro with their pedals? Especially the more boutique ones? Rubber feet, and entire rubber bottoms (Boss, etc) maybe made sense at one point but is there an application where the rubber is really keeping things in place properly, AND is a better choice than velcro?

I'm just thinking the marginal extra cost of Velcro to someone big like Boss or EHX is negligible. If someone said Fuzzrocious couldn't do it because of cost, or price increase, fine I get that. I assume from photos that the Fuzzrocious pedals ship without rubber feet anyway so at least there's nothing wasted.

This is not a troll thread. I have no issue with applying my own velcro. It just seems like either I'm missing something, or it's an improvement everyone knows could be made and nobody does on the manufacturing side.

Probably because velcro sucks, unless it's actually stuck to the other half of the velcro. And you never know which side of the velcro someone is going to use on the pedal side of things. Hook? Loop? It's deeply personal...

so then why not include a strip of both, as velcro is usually sold in rolls with both hook & loop side anyway. put on whichever side you want on whichever part you want.

Also there is a right answer, hook side goes on the pedal we all know that even if we don't all admit it. I agree it's not perfect but realistically a better solution is going to be relative to the person and more expensive no matter what it is.

The Velcro that is included with some stuff is usually crappy and gets thrown out immediately. Pedaltrain, I'm looking at you...

I don't use Velcro®. I screw my pedals straight to my rack shelf.

those are all good points, though not sure screwing down pedals will become an industry standard it would be nice if there were holes in the bottom for it to be screwed and slid into place like other electronics have for mounting.

For any of you though that don't use it, are the rubber feet/pad things as good or better solution for you?

I recently put my board together and used velcro- it sucks, a lot of the time I'm pulling the velcro from the pedal rather than pulling the velcro apart. Apparently 3M make a better version, but I've never tried it myself. Honestly, I'm considering just taping the buggers to the board.

I seem to remember my Digitech Obscura came with velcro, but I lost it.

I gave my Pedaltrain and the bottom of my pedals a good washing, and then attached my pedals using Velcro brand Velcro. Now I no longer bash Velcro, Pedaltrain or gravity.

Velcro sucks. I use 3M Dual Lock. Similar, but different. That's what you want.

Dual Lock is much better -- works with velcro too, but it's a bit spendy.
I know one builder that does put velcro on the pedal, but always the wrong side (loop), so I have to rip it off and start again.

When I said velcro I meant hook & loop tape no matter the brand. The Dual Lock is that the ones that look like little mushrooms and work outdoors and all that? I like that stuff too but didn't feel like redoing my whole board when I got some.

If I titled the thread 'Who doesn't use something resembling hook & loop tape from any brand' it would be come more specific but more awkward.

I don't use it because it eventually fails.....especially when it gets warm. I took a chain splitter and then used the flat parts of the inside and outside of the chain. Fix one end using the stock screw of your pedal (IME most pedals will have them)...then screw directly to your board. Sometimes you will have to use a bigger chain link, if the screw isn't quite at the corner of your pedal!
