My favorite Flea lines are (in no particular order, unless when you read top to bottom and left to right, like I do):
Aeroplane - not just the verse part, either, I really like the repeating chorus part at the end
Soul to Squeeze - amazing, melodic line
Around the World - fits the song perfectly, and is very unpredictable
Under the Bridge - beautiful line, particularly the end part

The best Christian bass line is in "Rock the Party" by POD. It's one of the best lines I've every heard, but Black Sabbath's n.i.b. might edge by a bit.
Dude, POD isnt Christian music!!! Neither is Black Sabbath. And the part of the song by POD you are mentioning is actually REALLY easy! But that doesnt mean it doesnt sound cool.
For those of you who want a COOOOOL bassline, check out "Depth Charge" by Sadhappy. Jesus christ and a half! This is some good playing. (Sounds weird, me talking about this type of music! But its very good!) Anyone a fan of or has ever heard Sadhappy? I love the bassist's (Paul Hinklin or something?) playing style. It sounds like he plays almost like John Entwhistle, by tapping on the strings instead of plucking them (no, im not talking about tapping), so its almost a slap sound. Neat sounding! And theres lots of chords. Id be willing to bet he plays a 6 or 7 string.

POD is totally Christian (Listen to thier lyrics). I know that Black sabbath isn't Christian. I didn't say they were.
All there songs arent "aahhhh man i love god so much that its all ill ever sing about", which is what all christian music, pretty much.
I'm going to have to stick with Geddy Lee. I know he's not the best out there, but I don't think the man's ever written a bad bass line. A few weren't quite as complex as they could possibly have been, but they always fit the song well. Some of the ones I'm partial to are YYZ, La Villa Strangiato, Prime Mover, and Digital Man, just to name a few.
Hey guys, what about Jaco's kick ass bassline for "Crisis" (on "Word of Mouth") ? I think this is the killer one.

Angus, you would lose that bet. Paul Hinklin plays a good 'ol 4-string. Hard to believe, huh? I'm sure you know that a lot of the bass you're hearing on Sadhappy albums is Michael Manring.. he's in the band too. They have a website, http://www.sadhappy.com but it hasn't been updated in about two years. I did a web search for Paul Hinklin and found some good interviews with him.
