Who here names their bass?

62 J called Jonesy, had variations of oly for the American Standard J. None of the other instruments have had names but now that I think of it, my grandma gave me her 73 teisco del ray to learn on (against my will) at 14. She passed away a few years back and the naming it after her would be strangely fitting. Sharon.

I have a P Bass with flats that the guitarist says sounds like a freight train... "the Freight Train".

I was describing how my new Duesenberg has a bigger bottom than Beyonce.... "Beyonce"

Seafoam P Bass.... "Seafo"

The rest are just abbreviations of their brand or model.... so far.

This is Westley....

He was my best friend of almost 18 years and passed away 11 months ago. I found a nice photo of him, printed it out and with a brand new blade on my hobby knife, cut out his image and then applied it to my 98' GL Jazz Bass.
Now, that bass has all the mojo it will ever need.
This bass stays for life.

(Badass II has been swapped out for an original Fender bridge)

Out of 12 basses, only one has a name. My newly acquired Ampeg Devil is named "Thumper" because all she does is thump like an upright and is like nothing else I own so she had to have a name.

Keep in mind that all of my basses are called by a verity of names whenever I screw up.

I've named my ESP LTD B-206 (six string) "Tremendous Richard" because sometimes you just can't say "Big Dick" in public

My wife named my 1974 P "Martha" as it was gigged for many years by the bassist of Martha and the Muffins (remember Echo Beach?). Name definately stuck and that is all the bass is referred to.

I call my 1972 Jazz "Geddy" as it looks the same as Geddy's main bass.

My kids call my Fodera "Fedora" (like the hat) just to piss me off as I called it that once during a brainfart moment.

I generally don't name my basses in any case. Maybe "the red one" or "the black one" back in the day when I had a roadie on tour.
